  More Info & Reviews

Exeter Blues Groove are a duo playing deep blues with a sound forged from sonic slide guitar, fat and fuzzy harmonica and swampy drum grooves. They are based in the Southern Highlandsof NSW Australia in a small village called Exeter .

The band is fronted by singer songwriter David O'leary whose  musical beginings started in Melbourne where he was drawn to the harmonica via Bob Dylan and Neil Young. He soon discovered the blues harp players of Chicago and the Mississippi Delta The late great LIttle Walter became one of Dave's biggest musical influences .Story teller guitarists as diverse as Robert Johnson and Leo Kottke as well as the hypnotic stylings in the music of RL Burnside all add up to what forms a very earthy bedrock sound that is Exeter Blues Groove.

In 2004 Exeter Blues Groove released an impressive 16 track album titled LET IT FLOW ''.It was recorded at the Beggars Lane studio in Bowral in a single beautiful winters day . Produced with the help of Shane Pacey ,lead singer of Australian blues band' The Bondi Cigars'and featuring Robbie Souter on drums who has had a long playing relationship with Australian legend the late great Slim Dusty, as well as ''the Dynamic Hypnotics''.

The album has been recorded in the traditional old style of'' one take'' and Robbie's drumming finness blends beautifully with Daves get up and dance 'guitar style expressing the unique sound that is Exeter Blues Groove. Dave O'leary sings it like it is 'laconic and straight to the point with an honesty that get under your skin and rings true long after the band has gone home.

You will like this album alot.

"If you don't have Exeter Blues Groove ""Let It Flow"" in your music library, then your library will never be complete.   With great singing & fabulous sound, you'll really get into the beat of the Exeter Blues Groove. Every song is different, you won't get bored.   Definitely not ""same old same old"" track after track. This is one cd you'll keep on playing from beginning to end.
Dave & Robbie are another reason to listen to Aussie Blues.   ""Let It Flow"" is proudly played on my Blues show.   Congratulations on a fantastic cd.
