  More info & reviews

ARIA Award Winner Mike Nock formed the Mike Nock Project originally for the Wangaratta Festival in 2004. The musicians were chosen for the Project both for their individual abilities and for the way they would interact in this context. After an astounding debut performance, a recording was inevitable, Meeting Of The Waters followed shortly after. There are many moments of extraordinary music making throughout this recording, the kind of joyous magic that can only happen when a relaxed and supportive musical camaraderie is aligned with a strong unity of purpose. Featuring: Mike Nock, Julien Wilson, Steve Magnusson, Eugene Ball, Tim Wilson, James Greening, Dale Gorfinkel, Brett Hirst and Toby Hall.

“Meeting of the Waters is more about Nock the writer, Nock the bandleader. Reflecting an artist with nothing to prove but much to say, Meeting of the Waters is another high watermark for Nock; received too late to make a 2007 best of list, it could be an early contender for 2008.”

 John Kelman, allaboutjazz.com

“Mike Nock's diversity as a composer and his careful selection of collaborators shine through this marvellous nonet comprising both Sydney and Melbourne players.”

John Shand, SMH

“…contains all originals, as fresh and laden with ideas as nine high-calibre artists delivery outstanding arrangements… Success is due partly to extraordinary musical co-operation, not only among Nock’s established piano trio but also among the additional four horns, guitar and vibes.” ☆☆☆☆1/2

 John McBeath, The Australian

"This is joyous music, brilliantly performed. If you have enjoyed Nock's previous Albums, i can highly recommend this one; if not, here is a great place to start."

Adrien Jackson, Rhythms
